Scandinavian Interior and Oiled Parquet

Besides my hobby as a photographer, my real job is interior design. Here is one of my last construction sites in https://www.diyhomeimprovement.us in the New York.

Long before the finishes of this interior that is – it must be admitted – quite dazzling thanks to the large bay window, we do not even imagine the amount of work that was done simply to renovate the parquet that was in an average state with many tasks. Moreover, if you want a trick of interior decorator, the parquet oil of this French manufacturer is quite extraordinary for natural and ecological finishes, values that are necessarily dear to me as to all travelers of the world I think.

Then, once the parquet floor is finished, it is a question of moving to the choice of furniture and interior design. Again, I must admit that the extremely green exterior made it easier for me. I opted for a very trendy design at the moment and a Scandinavian interior. Black and white and pastel colors with small wooden legs as for the left armchair that totally seduced me. The white sofa with the small Belgian cushions bring the northern side, nature, wood and pure. Of course, the large carpet adds to the warm side of the room, we can imagine going through a winter without too much difficulty.

Some tips for the maintenance of an oiled parquet like this

Care after installation

All oiled floors should be cleaned immediately after installation and as part of a regular cleaning program. The surface will then be more durable, easier to clean and maintain in the future. Indeed, the soap recommended for cleaning oiled floors covers the surface with an invisible film, providing additional protection and making the floor more resistant to dirt.

Simply use a brush or vacuum cleaner for daily cleaning to remove surface debris. In order to get the best possible cleaning, use a soap cleaner (e.g. black soap). This highly concentrated soap is intended for cleaning and maintenance of oiled wood surfaces, for floors, furniture, kitchen surfaces and all interior woods.

Extremely dirty floor cleaning

If the floor has been neglected and/or becomes very dirty, it must be cleaned with an intense cleaner developed for deep penetration of the wood fiber.

How to apply oiled floor cleaners :

  • Shake well before use.
  • Always use two buckets: one – for the soapy solution, the other – water for rinsing.
  • Mix about 250ml of soap with 10L of hot water and apply a thin layer on the floor (Blanket approx. 50-80 m2/l, depending on the type of wood); particularly dirty places should first be cleaned with a brush or cloth.
  • Rinse the cloth or mop in the second bucket and wipe the floor.
  • The water in the other bucket must be changed regularly to avoid spreading the dirt already removed on the ground.
  • Do not wipe the soil with pure water after using the soap, because the protective oils will be removed!

Refresh your oiled parquet

Use a floor cooler once or twice a year, depending on the level of dirt, to restore and protect if the floor has become dull and tired. It will help with daily maintenance, strengthen the resistance of the soil to dirt and restore new life to your soil.

Instructions for the use of an oiled floor cooler:

  • Clean the soiled surface with an intense cleaner first and allow to dry thoroughly for 4 to 8 hours.
  • Apply a thin layer of refreshing for oiled parquet with a diffuser or cloth, then rub the wood until a smooth, silky surface is revealed.
  • Be careful not to leave excess oil on the surface.

Within about 4 hours. You can walk on the ground, but the full hardening time is 24 hours. During this time, the soil should not be cleaned with water and should be used sparingly and carefully.
